Some Anthem floor plans say pass-thru kitchen. Others say separate kitchen. That is a layout difference, not a quality score. One opens to the living space. The other is a room you can close. Which one you want depends on how you cook, not on which photograph had better light.

Pass-thru
A pass-thru kitchen is open to the living or dining area. You can talk while you cook. You can also smell last night's dinner from the sofa. Noise from the range and the dishwasher sits in the same volume as the television. If you entertain by cooking, this is often the point. If you work from the living room, it may not be.
Look at the run of counters on the plan. An open kitchen with a short counter is still a short counter. Staging a bowl of lemons does not add inches.
Separate
A separate kitchen is a room. You can close a door, or at least contain the mess. You lose the open sightline. You gain a place to leave dishes that is not the living room. In a smaller residence this can matter more than in a three-bedroom, because the living room is doing more jobs.
Neither layout promises a dishwasher, a window, or a particular appliance package. Those notes are on the listing and the plan. Ask on the tour. Do not infer them from the words pass-thru or separate.
Walk both if you can
If two available residences differ only on this point, tour both. Stand where you would put a table. Filter listings and schedule those tours. Call (212) 684-3222.
