You can keep a car in Murray Hill. You will think about it every week. The Queens-Midtown Tunnel sits next to this neighborhood. 34th Street carries tunnel traffic. Alternate-side parking is the city's version of a gym membership you resent. This building's public amenity list does not include a resident garage. Do not assume there is a space in the basement.

Street parking

Street parking means moving the car for street cleaning, watching for bus lanes, and not leaving it on 34th as if 34th were a side street. If you will not do that, you will pay for a garage nearby. This site does not publish garage rates or a waitlist. Ask the concierge whether they have a relationship with a lot. Get the price from the lot, not from a memory of 2019.

A car you use twice a month is a different decision from a car you use to drive to work in Queens. Be honest about which one you have before you add a monthly garage bill to rent, electric, and cable.

Coming and going

Tunnel backups will sit on your map even when you are not in the car. Moving-day trucks already need a reservation with the building. A personal car does not get a reserved dock because you live here. Do not idle in the lobby cut-out.

If you are moving from a place with a driveway, test one week of your real schedule on foot and subway before you decide the car is required. Grand Central is the commuting argument against the car for a lot of people in this zip code.

Ask before you sign

If a car is non-negotiable, solve parking before you fall for a floor plan. Filter listings, tour the unit, and ask the desk the garage question on the same visit. Call (212) 684-3222.

The Neighborhood

Murray Hill, Manhattan

Nestled between Midtown and Gramercy, Murray Hill is one of Manhattan's most enviably located neighborhoods — a residential sanctuary steps from the city's greatest landmarks, transportation hubs, and cultural institutions.

Positioned at the center of it all, residents of The Anthem enjoy unparalleled access to Grand Central Terminal (10 minutes on foot), the Empire State Building (visible from nearly every window), and the waterfront promenade along the East River. The neighborhood's tree-lined streets and boutique dining scene provide a calm contrast to the energy of Midtown just blocks away.

Murray Hill's central latitude makes every corner of New York City accessible in minutes — Downtown, Uptown, Brooklyn, Queens, and New Jersey are all within easy reach via subway, bus, and ferry.
