Holiday tipping in a doorman building is a custom, not a law. Nobody at 222 East 34th Street can require an envelope as a condition of getting your packages. People still tip in December because the same staff see them every day. Decide in advance so you are not emptying your wallet in the lobby on the 23rd.

What is customary, not required
This site does not publish dollar amounts, and it should not. Households differ. Staff roles differ. A cash envelope with a name on it is the usual form. A group card is something residents sometimes organize. Neither is in the lease.
If money is tight, a sincere note is better than a performance. If money is not tight, tipping only the people you see and ignoring overnight staff is how overnight staff remember you in July. Think about who actually handles your packages and your lockouts.
The rest of the year
A few dollars when someone has gone out of their way is common. It is not a substitute for treating the desk like a desk. The front desk is not a restaurant. Do not hold a bill in the air every time you pick up a box.
Vendors, movers, and dry-cleaning runners are separate. The building's rules for who may come upstairs still apply whether you tipped or not.
Ask a neighbor, not the internet
Building culture varies by year and by staff. A Reddit thread about a different tower is not data. If you have not moved in yet, this is not a reason to pick a unit. Filter listings and tour the residence. Call (212) 684-3222.
