The Anthem has a laundry room on the 5th floor, and some residences also have a washer and dryer in the apartment. Those are not the same offer. A listing that does not mention an in-unit machine does not have one.

The building laundry room

The 5th-floor laundry room has commercial washers and dryers, folding tables, and utility sinks. It is open 24 hours, and machines take a card or the app. You do not need an appointment, and you do not need to own the equipment. You do need to come back when the cycle ends, which is the actual cost of a shared room: the walk, and the chance someone else's clothes are in the machine.

The in-unit machines

Forty-seven of the residences in the current inventory mention a washer and dryer in the unit. The floor-through one-bedrooms on lines 15 and 30 are in that group. An in-unit pair means laundry happens while you do something else in the apartment. It also means the machine is yours to keep clean, and a repair is a maintenance request rather than a walk to the next open washer.

Do not generalize from one tour. A washer in Residence 1530 does not mean the studio you are also considering has one. Read that listing. If the description does not say washer and dryer, ask anyway, and treat silence as a no until someone confirms it.

Which one changes the week

If you travel, work late, or hate scheduling a load around an elevator ride, the in-unit machine is the amenity that shows up in daily life. If you are in the apartment rarely and do a single weekly load, the 5th-floor room is enough, and it is already in the building for every resident. Neither option is a substitute for reading the listing of the apartment you would actually sign.

The room is listed with the other building amenities. To see which residences include machines, start with the listings or call (212) 684-3222 and ask about the specific unit.

The Neighborhood

Murray Hill, Manhattan

Nestled between Midtown and Gramercy, Murray Hill is one of Manhattan's most enviably located neighborhoods — a residential sanctuary steps from the city's greatest landmarks, transportation hubs, and cultural institutions.

Positioned at the center of it all, residents of The Anthem enjoy unparalleled access to Grand Central Terminal (10 minutes on foot), the Empire State Building (visible from nearly every window), and the waterfront promenade along the East River. The neighborhood's tree-lined streets and boutique dining scene provide a calm contrast to the energy of Midtown just blocks away.

Murray Hill's central latitude makes every corner of New York City accessible in minutes — Downtown, Uptown, Brooklyn, Queens, and New Jersey are all within easy reach via subway, bus, and ferry.
