The Anthem uses key fobs and a 24-hour front desk. That combination is how you get back in at 1 a.m. without a locksmith on 34th Street. It only works if the desk knows you, the fob works, and you have not left your only credential in a cab.

Day one
Count the fobs you were given. Test the building entry, the elevator if it needs a fob, and the apartment door before the office closes on your moving day. Photograph any paper key card or fob number. If a roommate will live here, get their credential issued the way the building wants it, not as a copy you made at a hardware store.
Do not prop the street door with a box. Do not tape a fob to a package for a guest. A 480-unit building with a doorman still fails if residents defeat the door.
When you are locked out
Go to the front desk. This site does not publish a lockout fee. Do not invent one, and do not assume the first time is free. Bring ID. If you are not yet in the system, a lockout at 2 a.m. is harder. That is a reason to complete move-in paperwork before you go out for dinner on night one.
A dead fob is maintenance. A lost fob is a security event. Say which one you have. Ask whether the lost fob can be deactivated the same day.
Guests and extra people
A guest who needs to come and go while you are at work is an office question, not a copied fob. If you are still touring, ask how many credentials come with the lease. Schedule a tour or call (212) 684-3222.
