Letters and packages are different pipes. USPS mail is the postal service. Boxes from Amazon and everyone else are the package room and the 24-hour desk. If you treat them as one pile, you will lose a certified letter in a stack of cartons, or wait at the desk for an envelope that is in a mailbox.

The building has a ground-floor mailroom. Ask on day one where your mailbox is, whether you need a key, and how certified mail is handled. File a USPS hold if you travel. A hold is a postal product. It is not the concierge promising to babysit your catalogs.
Change-of-address with USPS forwards mail. It does not forward a grocery order. Put the residence number on everything. 222 East 34th Street without a unit number is how mail becomes a scavenger hunt in a 480-unit building.
Packages
The desk and the package room take parcels. Amazon is a confirmed partner. Pick things up. Do not use the room as a closet. Perishables, overnight letters that needed a signature, and anything marked for a name the desk does not know are the failure cases. Fix the name first.
A valet note on the mailroom listing means the building handles incoming goods. It does not mean a car valet or a personal assistant. Ask what they will actually sign for.
Sort it on move-in day
Ten minutes with the concierge on keys day saves a month of "where is my thing." If you have not toured yet, schedule a tour and walk past the mailroom on the way out. Filter listings or call (212) 684-3222.
